Set up Steam match sharing
Guide · Published · 2 min read
Link Steam and paste two codes once, and your Premier and Competitive matches import into Postplant on their own.
Match sharing lets Postplant find your new matchmaking games without you uploading anything. Once it is on, we check for new matches every 15 minutes and import the demo for each one.
You need a Steam account linked in Postplant and CS2 with at least one recent Premier or Competitive match. It takes about five minutes.
Step 1: Link Steam in Postplant
Open Settings and click Link with Steam in the Steam account section. Steam asks you to sign in, then sends you back. If you just signed up, the Connect your accounts step has the same button, called Sign in with Steam.
Step 2: Check that CS2 lists your matches
Start CS2 and open Watch, then Your Matches. Your recent Premier and Competitive games show up there. If the list is empty, play a match first. Valve only shares matchmaking games this way. FACEIT matches have their own import in Settings.
Step 3: Create your authentication code on Steam
Open Valve's match history access page and sign in to Steam. Create an authentication code there. It looks like XXXX-XXXXX-XXXX. The code belongs to your Steam account and keeps working until you revoke it.
Step 4: Copy a share code from one of your own matches
Every match has a share code that starts with CSGO-, like CSGO-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx. The Steam page from the last step shows the one for your latest match. You can also copy one from Your Matches in CS2. It has to be a match you played in, not a code a friend sent you. Postplant imports that match and every match you played after it.
Step 5: Paste both codes into Postplant
Back in Postplant, open Settings and find Auto-import matches. Paste the authentication code and the share code, then click Enable auto-import. We pull in that first match right away. After that we look for new ones every 15 minutes.
Matches from before your share code are not imported. You can still upload those demos yourself.
If it does not work
If something goes wrong, Settings shows a message under Auto-import matches. These are the usual ones.
- That share code is not from your account. Copy one from your own recent matches in CS2. This happens with a code from a friend, or from a match you were not in.
- That authentication code does not match your account. Generate a new one on the Steam page and paste it exactly. It has to come from the same Steam account you linked in Postplant.
- Nothing new shows up. Match sharing only covers Valve matchmaking, not FACEIT or community servers. Play a Premier or Competitive match after the one you pasted, then give it 15 minutes.
- You took a break of a month or more. Valve keeps match replays for about a month. An older share code can be refused, and its demo may not download anymore. Paste a share code from a match you played recently.
